CNC Polishing can have a low roughness with a high consistency. The influence of CNC polishing of wool felt wheel on residual stress is investigated. The normal residual stress in the feed direction shows a trend from rise to decline
while in the vertical feel direction it stays unchanged basically and then decreases. The optimized times of polishing is 3. The “Reinforcing Bar” model is put forward in order to explain the impact on the residual stress from polishing. Another polishing experiment is conducted for verifying roughly the impact relation.
