Preparation and Application of in-Situ Ceramic Particles Reinforced Al matrix Composites
In-situ synthesized ceramic particles have the advantages of small size
regular shape
high stiffness and clean interface of particle/matrix. It is an important technique to prepare high-performance aluminum matrix composites. In-situ TiB2 particles reinforced Al matrix composites exhibit high strength
stiffness
good ductility
fatigue and machining properties. In addition
the components can be manufactured from the in-situ synthesized composites by liquid forming
plastic working and additive manufacturing. It avoids the common problems of Al matrix composite
such as
high cost
complex processes
difficulty in machining processes and hard to fabricate large sized and/or complex components. Therefore
in-situ TiB2 particles reinforced Al matrix composites have a broad application prospect. Based on the detailed cases
the advantages of fabrication and comprehensive mechanical properties of in-situ TiB2 particle reinforced Al matrix composites were analyzed. The application and development in future of the composites are forecasted.
